CARPC is pleased to introduce Isaac Porter, one of our new Environmental Resources Technicians. Originally from Viroqua, Wisconsin, Isaac earned his Bachelor of Arts in Conservation Biology, Environmental Studies, and Spanish. His time at UW–Madison included work as a researcher in the Global Land Use and Environment Lab and as an environmental education intern at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center.
This summer, he’ll assist with data collection for CARPC’s Stream Crossing Inventory Project, which helps town governments prioritize culverts and other infrastructure improvements to strengthen our region’s flood resilience. He’s also looking forward to gaining hands-on experience with GIS and learning more about infrastructure challenges related to climate and land use.
Staff Trivia: Isaac studied abroad in Spain, living with a host family and honing his language skills—an experience that inspired his long-term goal of combining environmental work with Spanish in Latin America.
Outside of work, Isaac is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys running, fishing, playing soccer and beach volleyball, reading, cooking, and playing guitar. He also loves going to live music shows whenever he gets the chance.
Isaac can be reached at isaacp@capitalarearpc.org. Please join us in welcoming him to the CARPC team!
