Volunteer-run “Friends of” groups play a vital role in caring for Dane County’s natural spaces. CARPC’s new Dane County Friends Of Groups web map combines information on the many groups actively working across our region in one place.

Residents form “Friends of” groups to protect and improve their local parks, woodlands, wetlands, water bodies, and even entire watersheds. The activities of each group vary depending on the area they work in and the interests and skills of their volunteer members.

Explore the map to see which natural areas have an established volunteer group. Click on a colored-in area to learn more about a specific group.

We hope this map will be a helpful resource for highlighting current “Friends of” groups and identifying opportunities to organize new groups. If you know of a group that is not included in the map, please contact Liz Levy at lizl@capitalarearpc.org to have it added.
