Jason Valerius, CARPC’s Executive Director, is continuing his efforts of meeting with each of our commissioners. Recently, he got to know the Chair of CARPC, David Pfeifer.
Like most of our commissioners, David has extensive experience in local government. He began serving on the Sanitary Commission 20 years ago. After that, he served on the Pleasant Springs Town Board and later found his role within CARPC.
Jason and David conversed about many things and touched on some big questions. Is the rapid growth of our region a good thing? What if we could find a way to distribute that growth more widely, and what might that look like? They also discussed a fundamental structural challenge related to growth management in Wisconsin – governmental fragmentation. The distribution of power and roles within our region can lead to conflict, but CARPC can help everyone work through the conflict. By fostering a regional identity that spans varied urban and rural interests, we can build resilience for an uncertain future.
Thank you to David and all of CARPC’s Commissioners for your help in strengthening the region by engaging communities through planning, collaboration, and assistance.
