Comment on CARPC’s Draft 2023 Work Program

CARPC prepares an annual Work Program to guide staff activities. The 2023 Draft Work Program describes planned staff activities within CARPC programs intended to fulfill our vision and mission through regional land use and environmental resources planning.

Highlights of CARPC’s planned 2023 work include:

  • Support community implementation of the Starkweather Creek Chloride Management Plan, including monitoring to measure progress
  • Complete the update of the Environmental Corridors Report
  • Assist communities and other stakeholders with implementation of the Black Earth Creek Watershed Green Infrastructure Plan
  • Support the work of the Dane County Tree Canopy Working Group and the Midwest Climate Collaborative
  • Initiate a regional stream crossing inventory and assessment
  • Seek SolSmart Regional Organization Designation that recognizes regions that promote solar energy implementation
  • Support community work to implement the Regional Development Framework including an assessment of land use codes for consistency with the Framework
  • Provide online data dashboard to display the key performance indicators of the Regional Development Framework and to communicate progress towards achievement of Framework goals, objectives, and strategies
  • Continue to provide planning services, upon request, to communities in the region

The Commission is scheduled to adopt the 2023 Work Program at it’s November 10 meeting. Comments may be submitted to Steve Steinhoff at steves@capitalarearpc.org or made in person or via Zoom at the November 10 CARPC meeting (meeting information will be posted on our website on November 3rd).
