SolSmart, a national program funded by the US Department of Energy, recognizes communities, counties, and regional organizations for their efforts to support local solar development. This year, CARPC and the Dane County Office of Energy and Climate Change are jointly pursuing county and regional SolSmart designations. Join us on June 15 to kick off a regional conversation on priorities, preferences, and best practices for solar development in the Dane County region.

Featuring:

  • Kathy Kuntz – Director, Dane County Office of Energy and Climate Change
  • Phil Grupe – Sustainability Specialist, City of Fitchburg
  • Deb Perry – SolSmart

Who should attend: The primary audiences for this webinar are municipal staff, local officials and decision-makers, solar industry professionals, and interested community members.

What we’ll do:

  • Describe the SolSmart program and the overall benefits of PV.
  • Explain what CARPC and OECC are doing to pursue designations and how communities can get involved.
  • Describe the local designation process and how it benefits municipalities, including the City of Fitchburg’s experience earning Bronze-level recognition.
  • Gather insights on the local priorities, concerns, and questions that should be addressed during the county and regional designation processes.
