The open data portal is a free resource for locating, viewing, and downloading geospatial data developed by CARPC. All vector datasets are automatically available for download as CSV, KML, and Shapefiles and accessible via the GeoJSON and GeoService APIs.

HOUSING CONSTRUCTION/BUILDING PERMIT DATA
The following interactive story investigates new housing construction in Dane County pre- and post-recession. Changes in how much construction, the type of construction, household formation, and housing preferences play a role in our region’s ability to house future populations. You can read and interact with the story (on the left) or manipulate the data on your own (on the right) to investigate your own line of inquiry.

The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service publishes the Census of Agriculture every five years. The 2017 data show a continuation of many trends in farming. Some of the most dramatic changes are occurring in the dairy industry. Below is an infographic looking at the change in number of farms with dairy cows and a story looking at the interaction of agriculture and groundwater.
