Meet Our New Team Member: Kayla Haas
The Capital Area Regional Planning Commission is excited to introduce Kayla Haas, our new Marketing and Communications Specialist. Kayla’s job is to help people better understand CARPC’s day-to-day work through coordinating newsletters, posting on social media and drafting blog posts and press releases. In this newly created joint position, Kayla will split her time between CARPC and the Greater Madison MPO.

Kayla was born and raised in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and graduated from Sun Prairie High School (now Sun Prairie East High School). She then ventured off to the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she studied Public Relations, Sociology and Business Law.
Staff Trivia: Kayla’s family has a produce stand where they sell sweet corn, pumpkins, tomatoes, and lots of other vegetables.
In college, she interned with the Sun Prairie Area School District and supported the district’s communication efforts. She helped coordinate the grand opening of the new high school, Sun Prairie West, gathered content for newsletters and other publications and assisted in managing social media channels. After graduating, Kayla worked as a Public Affairs Specialist at the Minnesota Department of Education before moving back to the greater Madison area.
Outside of work, Kayla enjoys trying new restaurants, reading books, cooking and helping out in her family’s garden. Kayla and her partner, Chris, are getting a dog at the end of this month.
Kayla can be reached via email at khaas2@cityofmadison.com. Feel free to shoot her a message and say hi!
