We are excited to welcome Ella Braun to the team this summer as an Environmental Resources Technician.
Originally from Burlington, Wisconsin, Ella recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with degrees in Environmental Science and Community and Environmental Sociology, along with a minor in Integrative Design of Built and Natural Environments. Throughout college, she also worked in an Agroecosystem Water Quality Lab, where she helped validate low-cost methods for measuring water quality.
This summer, Ella is helping collect data for the Dane County Road-Stream Crossing Inventory project, which is gathering information to help local communities prioritize infrastructure improvements and prepare for future flooding and severe weather events. With data collection remaining in just five townships, she is excited to help bring the project across the finish line.
One of the things Ella was most excited about in this role was the opportunity to spend time outdoors—and so far, it has not disappointed. When she’s out in the field, she’s hoping to see just about everything. Highlights so far include three fawns, countless swallows, a beaver dam, and what she describes as some “super wacky culverts.”
Staff Trivia: Ella says she’d happily eat Trader Joe’s Palak Paneer for every meal for the rest of her life—if it were socially acceptable and didn’t put her at risk of scurvy.
Outside of work, Ella enjoys reading, knitting, running, spending time in parks, and hanging out with friends and family.
Ella can be reached at EllaB@capitalarearpc.org. Please join us in welcoming her to the CARPC team!
