Introducing our Hazard Mitigation Planning Intern

We are pleased to introduce Sara Husen (Saw-rah | Hoo-Sayn), who joined our team this summer to assist with data and mapping in support of the Rock County Hazard Mitigation Plan update.
Sara is a second-year graduate student currently pursuing an M.S. degree in Urban and Regional Planning at UW-Madison. She received her BA in Political Science from Iowa State University with a minor in Urban Studies. Sara’s M.S. focus is in Natural Hazard Mitigation and Geospatial Analysis.
In addition to her internship with CARPC, Sara currently works as a Project Assistant for Dane County Emergency Management, updating risk assessment data for the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (DCNHMP) since May of 2021. She also worked as a GIS intern for the City of Edgerton in the summer of 2022.
In her downtime, she enjoys historical fashion, longboarding, antiquing, and baking with her husband.
