Connecting with Our Commissioners: Alison Volk
When Jason Valerius took on the role of CARPC’s Executive Director, he prioritized meeting individually with each Commissioner to foster connections and align on shared goals. Earlier this year, he met with Alison Volk over lunch at Madison Sourdough.
Alison brings a valuable perspective to the Commission, drawing from her extensive background in farmland preservation. Formerly on staff with Wisconsin’s Farmland Preservation Program, Alison has spent over five years with the American Farmland Trust (AFT), a national organization dedicated to safeguarding farmland and ranchland across the U.S. As AFT’s Deputy Director of Land Protection Projects, Alison leads their efforts in acquiring easements.
In Dane County, we strive to balance the preservation of valuable agricultural resources with the demands of land development to accommodate our rapid population growth. Alison’s expertise is a tremendous asset to the CARPC team, helping to guide and inform our efforts in preserving productive agricultural lands and protecting sensitive water resources.
Thank you to Alison and all of CARPC’s Commissioners for your help in strengthening the region by engaging communities through planning, collaboration, and assistance.
