Land Use

Guiding the region's physical development

CARPC is statutorily responsible for “making and adopting a master plan for the physical development of the region.” This involves facilitating processes that build broad agreement on goals and objectives for how the region grows, preparing and updating a regional land use plan, and maintaining mapping and data systems.

The 2050 Regional Development Framework maps out regional land use goals along with strategies for incorporating them into local decisions. CARPC works to implement the Framework through regional planning partnerships, tracking and reporting progress at the regional scale, and providing planning assistance to local communities.
